The New York Times reports on ‘scraping’. This is a seemingly innocent request from some social networking sites that allows them access to your address book. Your friends may not only get an email asking them to look at your non-existent photos, but if they don’t respond a 2nd email is sometimes sent suggesting that they don’t want to be your friend, playing on the guilt trip.Scraping might mean some of your aquaintances might not be too happy with you, so think twice before giving out any details on the web.

Another good reason to stay anonymous and not give out details. Some people seem to think that there is something sinister or devious about posting anonymously but, unfortunately, (as in nature!) the big wide world is not always a nice place.
So, I'll continue to practice safe blogging and take precautions and remain, yours ever, anonymous ;)
